“To a large extent, in our churches today, we’ve preached more of what Jesus will do for us rather than who He really is! As a result we have cultivated many who serve God primarily for benefit rather than in joyful response to who He is…People who emphasize the blessing of God to the neglect of a relationship with Him create disciples who come to God to get something, rather than those who respond to Him for who He is. He is like no other and none compare to Him. Once God is encountered the promises all fall into perspective. He is so much more wonderful than anything, even His blessings.” (Paraphrased from Drawing Near pg 4)

What do you think?

“And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would DRAW NEAR to God must believe that He exists & that he rewards those who seek HIM! “Hebrews 11:6
If I was honest I would say that seeking God is hard…really hard, and not because we cannot actually reach him, the Bible is clear there (Hebrew 4:16, Hebrews 7:25, Hebrews 10:1), but that it is just a choice I make everyday. Truthfully it is not my desire that is absent, it is that I am a horrible prioritizer…
I heard Matt Chandler say once (I am paraphrasing), “If you do not wake up with a desire to draw close to God, to read His word, and talk with Him, then you have sin in your heart and you need to repent…”

So as I sit here this morning staring at Hebrews 11:6…

I want to please God – God I need faith!

I believe God exsists – God bring me closer to YOU!

I believe you reward those who seek you – God I desire to DRAW NEAR TO YOU, make my time with you real and full!

“And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would DRAW NEAR to God must believe that He exists & that he rewards those who seek HIM! “Hebrews 11:6

In the 31 verse of Proverbs starting in verse 10, Solomon describes what a woman of God looks like, now by no means do I mean for this blog to offend anyone, my intentions are to show what life is like when we actually live like Christ called us and ordained for us to live, and more specifically how my wife is not only indespencible to me, but utterly priceless as the Woman of God she is…it starts like this…

10 A good woman is hard to find,
and worth far more than diamonds.

11 Her husband trusts her without reserve,
and never has reason to regret it.

12 Never spiteful, she treats him generously
all her life long.

13 She shops around for the best yarns and cottons,
and enjoys knitting and sewing.

14 She’s like a trading ship that sails to faraway places
and brings back exotic surprises.

15 She’s up before dawn, preparing breakfast
for her family and organizing her day.

16 She looks over a field and buys it,
then, with money she’s put aside, plants a garden.

17 First thing in the morning, she dresses for work,
rolls up her sleeves, eager to get started.

18 She senses the worth of her work,
is in no hurry to call it quits for the day.

19 She’s skilled in the crafts of home and hearth,
diligent in homemaking.

20 She’s quick to assist anyone in need,
reaches out to help the poor.

21 She doesn’t worry about her family when it snows;
their winter clothes are all mended and ready to wear.

22 She makes her own clothing,
and dresses in colorful linens and silks.

23 Her husband is greatly respected
when he deliberates with the city fathers.

24 She designs gowns and sells them,
brings the sweaters she knits to the dress shops.

25 Her clothes are well-made and elegant,
and she always faces tomorrow with a smile.

26 When she speaks she has something worthwhile to say,
and she always says it kindly.

27 She keeps an eye on everyone in her household,
and keeps them all busy and productive.

28 Her children respect and bless her;
her husband joins in with words of praise:

29 “Many women have done wonderful things,
but you’ve outclassed them all!”

30 Charm can mislead and beauty soon fades.
The woman to be admired and praised
is the woman who lives in the Fear-of-God.

31 Give her everything she deserves!
Festoon her life with praises!

Now for many of you reading this blog you may not be married so it may be something to strive for or to strive to marry, maybe even start praying for, but as a married man, I would not only be in a lot of trouble with out my life when it comes to just the basics of life, but I would be so lost emotionally, physically, and more than anything spiritually. Think of it this way…without Bobbi, my other half, my soul mate, everything I do is incomplete.

To my Proverbs 31 Woman, I believe in you ! “Many women have done wonderful things, but you’ve outclassed them all!” Your love for God, your prayers, and your joy bring me closer to Christ, and complete my life! iloveyou!
